Sébastien Dupré & Guillaume Goujon
Côte de Brouilly
Domaine Dupré-Goujon. The surnames of the two friends are joined together. No sooner had they graduated than they headed south.
Working at the Domaine de Montcalmès was their apprenticeship and + ...because the two friends quickly realized that they had an incredible opportunity to be there. As time went by, Sébastien’s desire to return to his native Beaujolais was felt... Guillaume joined him a little later...
The two friends are unanimous. It was Frédéric Pourtalié de Montcalmès who gave them that little something extra, that spark that makes all the difference: wine is all about techniques, grape varieties and terroirs. It is also a craft where the “ART” particle has its place. These plots are classified as Côte de Brouilly, one of the 10 Beaujolais Crus. Today, some of them are in the process of becoming Premier Cru, following geological studies highlighting the diversity and quality of the soils. Sébastien and Guillaume share this desire to make a wine of character. To do this, they vinify each terroir separately: the juices from the lower part of the hillside of this plot in the South-East will not be mixed with those from the middle of the hillside. They look for good ripeness, then set up long (2 to 3 weeks) and gentle macerations, to work above all on the finesse of the tannins. Maturing in demi-muids or barrels then lasts 12 months, followed by 6 months in vats after blending, and finally another 6 months in the bottle. Volume, elegant substance, an ounce of rusticity and suddenly like a delicate veil, silky. Notes of crunchy fruit and some spices...
